The Risk Factory Volunteers were honoured with an award at the Inspiring Volunteers Awards held during Volunteer Week at the City Chambers. We were one out of ten organisations to receive a certificate in the Team catagory. The award was in recognition of the work our volunteers do in facilitating the visits of over 8,000 children to the centre in an academic year.
Volunteers at The Risk Factory have also won the Promoting Intergenerational Projects Award in Get Up and Go Awards, for the way that different generations work together.
Volunteers Quotes
Margaret MacKay ( 4 years)
'I'm sure I've said this to everyone, especially the new volunteers, that no matter how busy or tired or grizzly I am in the morning, I never regret coming in to work with the children. I go away at the end of my stint, still maybe tired, but invigorated and so glad that I came in.'
Kristin Kaubitzsch (3 month college placement from Germany)
It was a great experience to join The Risk Factory for 3 month, because it's a perfect place to collect very different experiences. I started with the main idea to make children aware of every day risks, also to teach and communicate with children in a foreign language. I'm also impressed about the engagement of the volunteers. If you want to meet people with different ages and different lifestyles which work together and learn of each other then you need to go to The Risk Factory.'
